Harley-Davidson Model J

Very beautiful and impressive Harley-Davidson Model J, probably dating from around 1917. A rare motorcycle from the pioneering years of the American motorcycle industry and an interesting object for the collector of early Harley-Davidson motorcycles. This Model J is equipped with the characteristic early 45° V-twin F-head/IOE engine of approximately 1,000 cc (61 cu.in.), combined with a 3-speed manual gearbox. Characteristic details include the classic loop frame, the rigid rear, suspension fork, wide footboards, manual transmission, large headlight and the characteristic suspension leather solo seat. The bike is finished in traditional olive green with Harley-Davidson lettering and gold-colored piping. The whole has been restored in the past and presents very beautifully, with various parts retaining their authentic early appearance. In 1917, the 61 was cu.in. V-twin with a power of approximately 16 hp. The Model J is one of the important early models in Harley-Davidson history. Please note: no clearly legible frame or engine number has been found yet. The exact numbering and dating have therefore not been confirmed. Based on the construction, engine, frame and other visible features, the motorcycle is offered as a Harley-Davidson Model J, presumably around 1917.
