Description
In 1970, Citroën presented a car that was far ahead of its time: the Citroën SM.

The SM was the result of Citroën's ambition to bring together technology, comfort and performance in one special Gran Turismo.

Under the long bonnet was a powerful Maserati V6 engine, with which Citroën gave the SM a sporty character that was unusual for the brand.
The collaboration with Maserati not only gave the SM its special engine, but also an exclusive look and a place all its own within the automotive world.

With its streamlined body, low nose and characteristic rear, the SM immediately distinguished itself from any other car on the market.
The SM was also technically remarkable, including the well-known hydropneumatic suspension from Citroën and an advanced hydraulic system for various functions.

The car also had a special steering and braking system, with which Citroën once again showed that it liked to question traditional car technology.
When it was introduced, the SM was intended for drivers who were looking for not only speed, but also comfort, silence and an exceptional driving experience.

The combination of a Maserati engine and Citroën's innovative technology made the SM one of the most special European cars of its time.
In 1971, chassis number 00SB5386 came on the market as one of the early examples of this special Gran Turismo.

With the SM, Citroën wanted to show that a luxury travel car could be technically innovative, comfortable and sporty at the same time.
More than half a century later, the Citroën SM is still considered a unique chapter in the history of both Citroën and Maserati.
