History In 1949, Ferruccio Lamborghini established his first tractor factory in Cento. After three years, the factory switched from producing Carioches to manufacturing diesel-engined tractors designed by Lamborghini himself. Within a few years, Lamborghini had made a name for itself in the tractor industry and was the largest tractor manufacturer in Italy. In 1959, the company expanded its production to include burners and air conditioners. In 1972, the company was acquired by SAME.
